James’ Story
Watch and listen to James share his story on The Hideout Collective’s YouTube channel. It’s honest, moving, and deeply personal — you might want the tissues close by.
Today, James has a place of his own and works part-time as a Team Leader with The Hideout Collective. His background in the automotive industry and as a kitchen fitter has become gold dust on our projects, where practical skill, problem-solving, and patience matter just as much as heart. As the team brings our wonderfully individual spaces back to life, James is right there in the thick of it — measuring, fixing, guiding, and quietly raising the bar.
James describes himself as a true Gemini. Two sides, no apology. Yin and yang. Calm and chaos. Thinker and joker. Blue-eyed, bright-spirited, and always scanning the day for a bit of sunshine, he has a way of stepping onto the boat and lifting the mood without ever making a fuss about it.
You’ll find him cracking a terrible joke (the kind that somehow still lands), or absorbed in a crossword with music playing in the background. He brings balance to the crew — not because he’s perfect, but because he’s present. He’s learning, growing, grafting, and turning up with a determination that runs deeper than he tends to show.
Under the humour is a man who genuinely cares about people. Someone who’s lived enough life to know that one conversation, one connection, or one moment of belief can change everything.
James’ story is exactly why The Hideout Collective exists.
Pet Hates:
- Cold tea (an insult, frankly)
- Egg whites (no explanation needed — he just refuses)
- Mutiny — boat-themed or otherwise
- Anyone interrupting his crossword concentration
Things That Make Him Smile:
- Music on while he works
- A good laugh shared with true friends
- Someone actually appreciating one of his questionable jokes
- Moments of peace where everything feels aligned
Hopes & Ambitions:
- James’s biggest goal isn’t about himself — it’s about others. He wants to learn more about people, understand mental health better, and use his experiences to help men who are struggling.
- His dream is to give back to society in a way that feels real and meaningful — to leave what he calls a “small but helpful James Berry footprint.”
- And if he can help save even one life along the way, he’ll consider that not just a goal achieved… but a life well lived.
